18-20 August, 2019, Oxford, United Kingdom
The MME is a well established and recognized European annual workshop on microtechnology. The goals are stimulation and improvement of know-how in the field, as well as the establishment of cooperation and friendship between delegates. The accent lies on mutual discussions around poster presentations rather than on formal oral presentations. A small number of world-leading experts are invited to review key research topics, focusing on both the latest results and background concepts.
The organizing committee is also proud to announce that following the MME workshop, two single day symposia will be held, covering wearable and flexible technologies as well as photonics, respectively.

Scope and content
The workshop covers the areas of materials, processing technology and devices. The organizing committee invites papers in any subject related to Micromachining, Micromechanics and Microsystems, including, but not restricted to:
- Fabrication technologies and processes
- Materials Design and simulation tools
- Microcomponent packaging and solutions
- Device and process characterization
- Sensing and actuation applications
- Microfluidic components and systems
- System integration of MEMS, NEMS, RF MEMS, and MOEMS
- Bio-MEMS
Substantial time is reserved for poster sessions. Authors will be given the opportunity to highlight the essence of their work in a two-minute flash oral presentation prior to the poster session. Ample time will be available during the poster sessions for discussions of new ideas and results. Young scientists are encouraged to present their on-going work. The workshop offers an attractive meeting place where new and important achievements can be discussed.
The Wearable and Flexible Technology symposium (Wednesday 21st August) will cover the following topics:
- Fabrication technologies and processes
- Systems integration
- Process metrology
- Modeling and design
- Flexible displays
- Sensors
Finally, the Future of Photonic Computing symposium (Thursday 22nd August) will seek to achieve the following:
- Foster and develop ideas from disparate communities towards all-photonic computing
- Ask difficult questions about what needs to be achieved for photonic computing to outperform current technology
- Probe whether photonic computing is a broad or a niche field
- Have leaders in the field lead scientific discussions in order to spur longer lasting conversations
- Allow researchers at all levels to share their work, especially students, in a conducive space.
