The 27th edition of the long-established Micromechanics and Microsystems Europe Workshop will be held in Cork, Ireland from August 28-30th 2016. Showcasing the newest developments in microsystems technology and applications, the gathering will provide a platform to facilitate interdisciplinary communications and generate new collaborations between delegates from both academic and industrial backgrounds.

MME is traditionally structured so that attendees can meet in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and the emphasis lies on informal discussions around poster presentations rather than on formal oral presentations. A small number of world leading experts are invited to review key research topics in plenary presentations, while all other delegates are given an opportunity to present research highlights in a rapid oral format followed by an interactive poster discussion.

This year, we are also delighted to announce that we are partnering with the Institute of Physics to publish the conference proceedings in the open-access Journal of Physics: Conference Series (JPCS) – a widely indexed publication that will significantly increase the visibility and availability of MME papers.

The event will be held at the CIT Cork School of Music – an international centre of musical excellence located within the centre of Cork City and overlooking the River Lee.

Micromechanics Europe covers the areas of materials, processing technology and devices. The organising committee invites papers in any subject related to micromachining, micromechanics and microsystems, including, but not restricted to:

          • Fabrication technologies and processes

          • Design and simulation tools

          • Microcomponent packaging and solutions
;
          • Device and process characterization
;
          • Sensing and actuation applications;
          • 
Microfluidic components and systems

          • System integration of MEMS, NEMS, RF MEMS and MOEMS;

BioMEMS.

Substantial time is reserved for poster sessions and to facilitate informal discussions of new ideas, developing concepts, and experimental results. Authors will be given the opportunity to highlight the essence of their work in a 2-minute flash oral presentation prior to the poster session. Delegates are encouraged to present their on-going work, and submission of technical concepts and preliminary results of high potential is particularly welcomed.
